Toldo tortures himself: "It doesn't matter if you played well before: you don't see many
mistakes like this".

A mistake like the one that Buffon made: "It's not consoling, it was two years and a 
half since I last made such a big mistake. But now we have to take our revenge against 
Arsenal, I am ready yet".

REGGIO CALABRIA - Francesco Toldo's heart is little and full of bitterness, but his mind 
and courage are great. The ball that slipped from his hands has a high price for Fiorentina.
It costs two points, and then, it delays the appointment with the away victory, which has been
now awaited since January 24th 1999, when Fiorentina won over Empoli, it ruins a party
and makes the awaiting for the Champions League debut against Arsenal less happy.
That mistake brought into desperation Trapattoni and all his mates too and it looked even bigger
for it was totally unexpected. To see Reggi completely alone, the ball landing in the back of
the goal, the opponents celebrating, the stadium collapsing with happiness and all his mates 
with their hands in their hair must have been a very hard blow. Bot hard enough, though, to 
make Toldo run away from his responsibilities and from his certainties.
He faces calmly notepads, microphones and videocameras, he tells about the worst moment in his 
last few years, he apologises with everyone and he gets ready for the revenge. In the press 
conference room the hostesses are all dressed with the number 11 Possanzini jersey, they look 
like a lot of enemies, but he has only one thing on his mind: Reggi's amazing physique. "There 
was - he tells - a long kick, I calculated the trajectory the wrong way, maybe it was made 
longer by the wind. I jumped very high, but I had gone too much under the ball. I didn't manage 
to keep it, I tried to take a remedy, but the bad luck wanted that it fell right between 
eggi's feet. It happens". Yes, it happens, but to the others. He had  made everyone used to his 
being almost perfect: "Actually - he goes on - I hadn't made suhc a big mistake for a very long 
time, if I'm not mistaken the last time I made such a mistake was two and a half years ago".

me and their affection was good for me" I am sorry most of all for them and for making the team 
lose two points that were already gained. Yes, already gained because we were calm by then and

I will play with a calm mood".
He sacrifices himself as the only guilty one, he does't want to remember his save in the first 
half on Kallon's header, which had saved the result and which could balance the final mistakes. 
"No, that doesn't matter. It was a good match, but the image that everyone will keep in their 
mind will be that of my mistaske, you don't get to see many like that". Some remind him that 
just two weeks ago Buffon, his team-mate in Italy, had preceeded him in the negative performance, 
. "But this does not console me at all, on the contrary I hope that the series will stop because 
we are 18 goalkeepers and it wouldn't be good if we all made such a mistake". Then he tells off
