April 12th, 2000 Toldo set for crunch talks by Adam Marshall Francesco Toldo, is to hold another crisis meeting with president Vittorio Cecchi Gori, with offers from Roma and Manchester United reportedly on the table. Cecchi Gori is determined that his "family jewel" stays in Florence, and it was claimed that the two parties had reached an agreement for Toldo to sign a new contract. However, Toldo, and his agent Gastone Rizzato, are adamant that no deal has been sealed, and that the international goalie will decide upon his future after the next crunch discussion. Fiorentina are ready to offer Toldo a five-year package, but Rizzato will insist that his client receives the sort of riches that he could expect from a lucrative transfer elsewhere. United will await developments, they are rumoured to be ready to pay a king's ransom for the Italian, with Massimo Taibi a possible makeweight in any transfer. However, Roma are favourites to pounce, if Toldo cannot reach an agreement with Cecchi Gori. They are ready to pay 50 billion lire or 20 billion with Eusebio Di Francesco and Francesco Antonioli; Lazio offered 25 billion lire and Alen Boksic.
