Toldo: Milan can forget about Terim (One Football) - Francesco Toldo claimed on Wednesday that AC Milan had no chance of tempting Fatih Terim away from Fiorentina. The Italy goalkeeper said: "The only thing Terim will be doing in Milan is sightseeing." Milan sports director Ariedo Braida revealed on Tuesday that the former Galatasaray manager is the club’s No 1 target to replace Alberto Zaccheroni, following speculation that owner Silvio Berlusconi wants to appoint a new chief. But Toldo said: "There is no way that Fatih Terim will go to Milan. He will see the famous church and then he’ll return to Florence." The lanky shot-stopper added that his current coach could go on to achieve legendary status with the Tuscany giants. "Terim is unbelievable. He’s a phenomonen. He’s like a god. He’s a genius," Toldo added. "He has taught us a new way of winning. To win you have to fight and if you don’t fight you don’t win – he never fails to find a different way of making the same crucial point. He loves us and we love him and we will not let him go." Toldo reckons that Terim and Fiorentina president Checci Gori should reach an agreement over a contract extension in the next few days. Owing to business engagements, though, the Viola supremo has had to cancel negotiations with Terim – set for Thursday – until after the weekend. Fiorentina play Milan on Saturday and Checci Gori must hope his coach's head is not turned by the Rossoneri. Reports in the Turkish press suggest that Checci Gori is keen to buy highly-rated Galatasaray midfielder Emre Belozoglu to persuade Terim to resist AC Milan’s overtures – but it may be too late. Milan sports director Braida is just as in awe of Terim as Toldo and explained: "If we choose to let Zaccheroni go we’ll choose a new coach and our target is Fatih Terim, the Fiorentina manager. "He’s a great man, an idol in his country and regarded on the same level as a god. "I know him very well and he is a good friend. I have met him a lot of times this year and I don't think he would mind leaving Florence now, or next year." www.fiorentina2000.net
